The Houston Junior Forum is a nonprofit women's service organization whose mission and sole purpose is the promotion of educational, social and recreational activities for Houston's children, youth and senior adults.

Beginning in 1946 with a reading program for preschoolers in the public schools of the East End of Houston, HJF has grown to a membership of nearly 400 women who provide volunteer and philanthropic services to our projects as well as other Houston organizations. Since our inception, HJF has given nearly 1,000,000 hours of community service and over $10,000,000 in financial support of our facilities and community volunteer programs.

This year HJF celebrated 65 years of volunteer service to the Houston community. Over the years, HJF has received numerous awards including “Outstanding Community Service Organization” from the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and first place in Texas for the “Build a Better Community” contest. In 2011, the Forum received a proclamation from Texas Governor Rick Perry for outstanding service to the Houston community. HJF looks forward to a future focused on transforming the lives of those we serve, enriching the skills of membership and developing friendships.
